Never knowingly undersolved
It was good to see Deri’s name as the setter for today’s puzzle. I reckon there were 15 clues out of 34 where I had to use three or more colours to indicate the detailed wordplay.

Puzzle from the Weekend FT of August 1, 2026
This puzzle was published in the puzzle extra booklet on 25 July and could be downloaded from the Guardian Editions app on the day (requires an e-subscription with the Guardian). I haven’t checked if the Guardian Archives app allows access.
Chandler has a well-crafted Quiptic for us this morning which should appeal to improving solvers and perhaps attract new ones.

As always, an expertly constructed, challenging and enjoyable puzzle from Filbert.
The very pleasant crossword that we have come to expect from Gemelo. There are several misleading and intricate pieces of wordplay.
My guess is that anyone who does these crosswords will have a copy of Chambers to hand and so won’t need everything to be spelled out. In the parsing I have confined myself to explaining when the wordplay is not immediately clear.
