Dalibor is one of the setters introduced to the Indy stable (some time ago now) by the current editor. I have always enjoyed his crosswords, because they are an intellectual challenge and are always carefully crafted. So I was pleased to get the opportunity to blog this one, which most likely will be his last for this paper.

Turnstone has the Quiptic for us this week. Nothing too much to frighten the horses here, I fancy, which is as it should be.

Mev fills what will be one of my last Monday slots blogging the Independent, if – as looks increasingly likely – the paper goes ahead with its decision to discontinue the crossword.

A delightful Quiptic from our New Zealand based setter. A solver-friendly grid, clear clueing and some nice twists and turns along the way. I am guessing that this will have hit the spot for many folk this morning.

Guardian Quiptic 1,397/Harpo
Harpo is on the oche throwing some gentle Quiptic darts at us this morning. This one went in steadily for me: some well-positioned anagrams to give me a foothold in the grid, then some cryptic definitions to wrestle with to get me over the line.
Independent on Sunday 1,905/Filbert
Another beautifully constructed puzzle from Filbert. I am a big fan of scribble paper when solving, because I often need to see things written down to work them out. My recycling bin is always that bit fuller after I’ve wrestled a Filbert offering into submission.

A solid and entertaining cryptic from Hubble to start the crosswording week in The Independent.
