Harpo is on the oche throwing some gentle Quiptic darts at us this morning. This one went in steadily for me: some well-positioned anagrams to give me a foothold in the grid, then some cryptic definitions to wrestle with to get me over the line.

Independent on Sunday 1,905/Filbert
Another beautifully constructed puzzle from Filbert. I am a big fan of scribble paper when solving, because I often need to see things written down to work them out. My recycling bin is always that bit fuller after I’ve wrestled a Filbert offering into submission.
Independent 12,442/Hubble
A solid and entertaining cryptic from Hubble to start the crosswording week in The Independent.
Everyman 4,165/16 August
I enjoyed this week’s offering from Everyman. Perfect accompaniment to a Sunday morning coffee (or two).
Guardian Quiptic 1,395/Pangakupu
Another Quiptic for me to blog from Pangakupu. Life is good.
Independent 12,424/Hippogryph
A rather chewy offering from Hippogryph this morning. For this solver, at least.
Guardian Quiptic 1,393/Chandler
Chandler has a well-crafted Quiptic for us this morning which should appeal to improving solvers and perhaps attract new ones.
Independent on Sunday 1,901/Filbert
As always, an expertly constructed, challenging and enjoyable puzzle from Filbert.
Everyman 4,161/19 July
Another solid offering from Everyman for our Sunday entertainment.
Guardian Quiptic 1,391/Pangakupu
Always a pleasure to see Pangakupu in the Quiptic slot.
Independent 12,406/Flush
This looks like a debut crossword from Flush, to whom welcome.
Guardian Quiptic 1,389/Anto
Anto is this week’s setter, with a sound Quiptic to test out newer solvers and entertain others.
Independent on Sunday 1,897/Filbert
As usual with this setter’s puzzles, it took me two goes to finally wrestle it to the ground. But an enjoyable challenge, with a range of subject matter to keep you interested.
Everyman 4,157/21 June
All the usual Everyman trademarks in this Sunday’s puzzle.
Independent 12,388/Hubble
A pleasing and reasonably accessible puzzle from Hubble to get the crosswording week in the Independent underway.
