Prize puzzle from the Weekend FT of July 20, 2019
I always enjoy puzzles from Julius. For me they have a consistently high concentration of penny-drop-moments: those jumps from from “WTF is this about?” to “Aha, of course!”. Thank you Julius.
In his new peripatetic state Phi appears on a Wednesday and to my pleasure clashes with me. This was his usual enjoyable crossword, which I found a bit easier than usual: only 11ac and 14ac held me up, and even now I’m not totally comfortable with them.
Apologies for slight lateness of this blog. Computer problems, which are I hope more or less resolved.

The Gaurdian presents us with an elegant crossword from Orlando to strat the week.
As the preamble says, this is an anniversary puzzle. And with lots of other coverage of the same anniversary in the last week or so, it’s not hard to guess the subject.
