A very entertaining challenge from GOLIATH which required several sittings to fully crack the grid. Frankly, this was a very educational outing where I learnt several new words/phrases (e.g. 16,17ac ; 15d; part of 1d) after having deduced the solution from successfully breaking down the clue. Googling helped with 15d.
Thoroughly enjoyed this !! Thanks Goliath for getting my Friday off to a great start.

Looks like my honeymoon period of blogging is over. This was a monumental struggle which had me scrambling all over Chambers and Wikipedia.
I cant say I enjoyed this one much – Falcon probably didnt feel like taxing any of us and made it quite easy. Like several grids I have covered before, this one would be just nice for newbies on the FT get started.

A super puzzle from Redshank with lots of very good clues to tick.
This was a gentle teasing puzzle, perfect for a weekday without anything too complicated. Being unfamiliar with the language, I had to verify the two French words after I got the answers. Thank you Courtier for the fun and games
A good tussle with Bradman’s serving this morning – Thanks Bradman for a good workout. I didnt find it easy going entirely and had to complete the puzzle in small bursts. I found the NW and the SE corners to be more taxing, relatively.
For a couple of clues, I got to the solution first but didnt crack the parsing (17ac, 16d).
A mixed bag, this, I thought. Some very smart stuff, but also a few clunkers that whiffed of short-cuttery.
