Financial Times 15132 by ALBERICH

Happy New Year everybody!! Its good to be back after a three week hiatus since both Christmas and New Year’s fell on Fridays. We have Alberich in the house, for the first FT Friday crossword in 2016 and true to his style, he gives us a smooth, intriguing challenge that was just within reach in terms of solving, and a touch out of reach (annoyingly so) in terms of parsing! 🙂 Several clues were refreshingly new (atleast to me) and as I solved them, made me upbeat about the rest of the year to follow. And of course, thanks to Neil !!

In memoriam – of my solving skills?

A puzzle by Io that pays tribute to some of the prominent people who passed away in 2015, although I think my solving skills may also be on their last legs, given how bad an effort I have made at this puzzle, which was very difficult, even after I had worked out what the theme was.

It’s the festive season and so it’s time for the annual Carte Rosee , Dante’s Christmas treat.
It’s a crossword with a completely blank grid and clues without clue number and enumeration. Opinions are possibly divided but it wasn’t as bad as it looked.
