The Observer crossword / Jan 21, 2018
Another excellent offering from many solvers’ favourite Sunday setter.
A Crux crossword was what I expected, a Crux crossword was what I got.
All fairly typical for this setter, a good start of the week.
Less typical was that I failed to complete the puzzle, missing out on one clue and not being able to fully understand another (and one more as it turned out to be).
It’s been a while since we had an FT Monday crossword. The last one, before Christmas, marked a farewell to Dante. This one, the first in 2018, seems to mark a farewell to Monday Prize puzzles.
A real treat this week for the many fans of Everyman [that includes me].
Not just this ‘regular’ crossword – which was as ever safe and sound – but a delightful Jumbo as a generous extra.
Monday Prize Crossword / Dec 11, 2017
A quick reappearance of Armonie in the Monday prize slot perhaps suggests he’s up for becoming a Monday regular.
No prize crossword today but a Farewell to Dante.
Surely a sad day for many crossword lovers.
Monday Prize Crossword / Dec 4, 2017
Falcon gave us perhaps the easiest puzzle of the FT week (as intended) but very well written it was.
Monday prize Crossword / Nov 20, 2017
Dante and Falcon may be the perfect Monday setters, Armonie could be one too.
Accessible, relatively easy and consistent.
Monday Prize Crossword / Nov 13, 2017
A Falcon puzzle which I found very easy but it will surely have pleased those longing for a gentle start of the FT week.
Monday Prize Crossword / Nov 6, 2017
After Crux’s surprise appearance a week ago, we’re back to ‘normal’.
Monday Prize Crossword / Oct 30, 2017
Some four or five years ago Crux was one the main Monday setters.
Nowadays we see him only sporadically, and his appearance explained why we had both Falcon and Dante in the week before.
Monday Prize Crossword / Oct 23, 2017
Enjoyable Falcon puzzle (in his familiar, very accessible style) to enliven my Monday breakfast.
On the previous four occasions, Dalibor’s contribution was not directly linked to the event as such, however, this one is: Dalibor @ York 2017
That said, there is no ‘inside information’ required and those who still wish to give it a go should look not further yet.
Egbert’s crossword has as its subtitle ‘Time flies’ which obviously means there’s something going on here.
Haven’t seen the puzzle and still want to give it (or yourself) a chance? Here it is: Egbert @ York 2017
