I had a look at it – never did a Genius puzzle before and it looks quite fiddly to do it online as my answers do not appear in the grid the way I do the regular crosswords online.
Also, no letter count after the clues so it is hard to keep scrolling up and down all the time, just to check the letter count of each clue.
I’m sure there is a Genius technique but I don’t know it and I am fine to give it a miss.
Michelle, every Genius is unique. If you have a look at the blogs for previous Geniuses you’ll see that there is no set technique. That’s the beauty and challenge of them.
I think you really need to print the print version to stand a chance of working through it.
Also if you only look at the online version you miss the special instructions (or at least I couldn’t find them!). The only way to do it is to print it out (using the link) and fill in by hand.
Lovely puzzle. Always a good challenge with enigmatist, but I’m not sure I’m seeing the connection with guardian 30000 and all that build up with the hidden messages. Probably I’m missing something.
Given the Genius puzzle isn’t usually blogged until after the closing date, as live prize puzzles aren’t discussed here — is there a particular reason this discussion is open so early?
hi Rob T
Perhaps Admin wanted to draw attention to the fact that it is a special puzzle that was referred to in the Guardian Cryptic puzzle #30,000? See the blog for that puzzle.
Agree with Rob T. This is a competition puzzle and is live until the end of the month. To Michelle’s point it can be linked for visibility but there’s no need for an active discussion (there are other places for that).

It’s very good, but already some comments are bordering on spoilers.
Crossbar and Muddy Thinking – thanks for the tips and pointers. I don’t have a printer so I’ll give this a miss. Guess I’m just not Genius material!
Enjoy your puzzle 🙂

I’m not sure that there were any spoilers as such but I’ve closed comments now.
