After a well-received debut last month, Jeemz is back again with the opening puzzle of the week in the Independent. I enjoyed this one: the clues are carefully crafted and varied with some nice twists here and there.
Pierre
Guardian Quiptic 1,375/Budmo
A fine Quiptic from Budmo, which I fancy will appeal to newer and improving solvers.
Guardian Quiptic 1,373/Turnstone
Turnstone is a name I haven’t come across before, and it appears this is their first Quiptic, having compiled a Quick Cryptic in the Guardian earlier this month.
Independent on Sunday 1,881/Deri
A fine cryptic from Deri for the Sunday Independent slot. I enjoyed this one very much: a good variety of subject matter and tight clueing throughout.
Everyman 4.141/1 March
Everyman is on a good run at the minute, I think. Another tractable crossword with a variety of clue types and the usual trademark constructions.
Guardian Quiptic 1,371/Chandler
It’s spring (meteorologically, at least) and Chandler springs into action with a fine crossword for new and improving solvers.
Independent 12,280/Hippogryph
A fine crossword from Hippogryph to start the puzzling week in the Independent.
Guardian Quiptic 1,369/Anto
Anto in the Quiptic slot for us this week.
Independent on Sunday 1,877/Filbert
Another challenging but immaculately constructed puzzle from Filbert for our Sunday entertainment. It took me my usual two sittings to complete this one, but I do enjoy tussling with this setter’s offerings.
Everyman 4,137/1 February
Another pleasing puzzle from Everyman for our Sunday morning entertainment.
Guardian Quiptic 1,367/Chandler
A fine Quiptic from Chandler which I think will appeal to newer solvers.
Independent 12,262/Magus
This is the first time Magus and I have met on Fifteensquared.
Guardian Quiptic 1,365/Budmo
Budmo has produced a number of crosswords for the Guardian Quick Cryptic slot, but this looks like their first foray into Quiptics. An excellent debut it was too, in my view.
Independent on Sunday 1,873/Filbert
Filbert is a really consistent setter. He’s pretty much a regular in the Independent on Sunday slot, and each week comes up with a deftly constructed and entertaining puzzle.
