Chumbawamba

It’s good to see that even the crazy anarcho-punk-folk ensemble Chumbawamba like to turn to a decent cryptic puzzle in between demos and gigs…
…it would appear to be 3999 from Phi.

Like it! Perhaps this sheds some light on the lyric:
“I get 1 down, but I get up again, ain’t never gonna get 3 down”!

How on earth did you come across that?!
I’m sure that’s my copy they picked up after I left it in the pub, I recognise the circled anagrams.

It was 6399 and I blogged it (Friday 20 April 2007).

Niall, thanks for the correction. I did mean to type 6399 as I had checked your blog just to make sure the filled-in grid was correct (rather than nonsense). The cryptic crossword buff in the band, Boff, is also a pretty decent fell runner. That doesn’t have a lot to do with the price of fish but as a middling fell runner myself it’s of trivial interest.
